Additional evidence of gradual loss of germ cells in the pathogenesis of streak ovaries in Turner's syndrome.

چکیده
The report by Singh and Carr (1966) demonstrating that the gonads of early 45,X embryos appear normal by both gross and microscopic examination has resulted in speculation that some 45,X individuals might have normal sexual development. This report deals with a patient who had a 45,X karyotype, normal sexual development, and regular menstrual periods. No evidence of mosaicism was demonstrated.

Apoptosis, Autophagy, and Necrosis in Murine Embryonic Gonadal Ridges and Neonatal Ovaries: An Animal Model
Background: In mammalian ovaries, loss of over two-thirds of germ cells happens due to cell death. Nonetheless, the exact mechanism of cell death has yet to be determined. The present basic practical study was designed to detect 3 types of programmed cell death, namely apoptosis, autophagy, and necrosis, in murine embryonic gonadal ridges and neonatal ovaries. Methods: Twenty gonadal ridges and ...
متن کاملAccelerated germ cell apoptosis in sex chromosome aneuploid fetal human gonads.
The purpose of the study was to examine the occurrence of programmed cell death (apoptosis) in normal and chromosomally aneuploid testis and ovaries during the second trimester of human development. Such information may be useful in understanding normal and abnormal germ cell development and disorders associated with infertility in adult life. Apoptosis was studied by terminal deoxynucleotidyl ...
متن کاملAssessment of In Vitro-Derived Germ Cells Contribution in Oogenesis in Female Mice Ovaries
Introduction: Contrary to a common belief, most mammalian females lose the ability of Germ Cell (GC) renewal and oogenesis during fetal life. Although, it has been claimed that germ line stem cells preserve oogenesis in postnatal mouse ovaries, that postnatal oogenesis keeps producing functional and sufficient GCs in the case of infertility (caused by different reasons) is doubtful. On the othe...
متن کاملBalanced Reciprocal Translocation t(X;1) in a Girl with Tall Stature and Primary Amenorrhea
AbstractChromosomal translocations constitute one of the most important, yet uncommon, causes of primary amenorrhea and gonadal dysgenesis. Although X-autosome translocations are frequently associated with streak gonads and clinical features of the Turner syndrome, the majority of X-autosome carriers may present with a variable phenotype, developmental delay, and recognizable X-linked syndrome ...
متن کاملRole of oxidative stress in pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome
The metabolic syndrome (MS) recognized as a major cause of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, has become one of the major public health challenges worldwide. The pathogenesis of the metabolic syndrome is multiple and still poorly understood. No single factor has yet been identified as an underlying causal factor. There is a growing belief, however, that obesity, specially visceral obe...
